Do you or someone you know have personal, lived experience with mental health or substance use issues with a strong recovery story? Are you a Certified Peer Recovery Supporter in Ohio?
Then Peer Recovery Supporter may be a perfect position! Peer Support is a relatively new field but proving to be a very valuable one! Peer Supporters use their past experience and successful recovery to be a beacon of hope to others on their recovery journey. Having been in similar situations, they understand and can relate to some of the emotions, barriers and struggles that participants may be facing. They can provide resources, assist with goal planning, teach coping skills and provide support and encouragement along the way!
Peers are certified at the state level through the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services (OhioMHAS) and can work in a variety of settings including correction facilities, treatment centers, court systems, recovery homes, Job and Family Services and more!
Duties & Responsibilities/Time Percentage Allocated for Performance:
Works with staff and community partners to connect individuals into the peer support program, assess participant needs, and determine participant goal activities (10%)
Provides one-to-one and group services as a Peer Recovery Supporter; serves as a role model for recovery; shares community resources and assists participants in meeting basic needs; informs participants about community and natural supports and how to use them in the recovery process; completes intake and enrollment process with participants; assists individuals with building problem solving skills; assists participants with building social skills to enhance integration opportunities and teach self-advocacy skills; establishes trusting, collaborative relationships; assists participants in building wellness management strategies; provides long term and/or ongoing supports as needed to help participants with their goals (50%)
Increases effectiveness of groups via advanced planning and acquisition of resources to assist with delivery of content (10%)
Conducts regular and timely data entry to ensure quality communication and timely reporting; monitors participant progress (15%)
Participates in team meetings, supervision, training, and other relevant events/meetings (10%)
